We have a problem here at Leading Edge Dental: we tend to fix people too well. Why is that a problem? Well, it’s not a problem for you people (the patients), but it’s a problem for me (Brett, the dentist). You see, I’m not a half-arsed sort of guy. I strive to do things as well as possible, and as a result, most of the things I do tend to last a long time. What’s worse is that I’m a fanatic for prevention, so people who follow our advice tend not to encounter extra problems going forward. This is all great for our three hygienists (who stay very busy) and our patients (who stay well looked after), but not so great for the dentist. I need a constant supply of new patients to work on; otherwise, I’ve got nothing to do. Anyway, that’s the reason we have a “deal” for new patients. I’m not a “deal” sort of guy, but the marketing people think it’s a good idea, so who am I to argue? If you see me for a new patient appointment, it will not be like any dental experience you have ever had. We go through EVERYTHING. At the end you will know everything about your mouth, and how to look after it. I’m not a pushy salesman type. I firmly believe patients have the right to choose their own level of health. I’m not going to be telling you that you HAVE to do something. Instead, I’ll be giving you options, along with the risks and benefits of those options. Whatever decision you make I will happily respect.
New patient appointments take 70 minutes. No active treatment is undertaken at this visit. If emergency treatment is necessary on your first visit to us, we will do whatever is necessary to diagnose the problem and make you comfortable. We will then have you return for a new patient examination. The $50 discount only applies to the new patient appointment, not to treatment appointments.
So what is involved with a new patient appointment?
- A comprehensive dental examination. Includes all necessary x-rays, intra and extra oral photographs.
- Decay and Gum disease risk assessment.
- Airway and sleep apnoea risk assessment.
- Oral cancer screening and home care recommendations.
- Treatment and ongoing maintenance options will be discussed.
- You will receive a $50 discount towards the new patient adult Examination (Normal fee $280)
