Car. Thinking that you’re saving money by NOT checking (or changing) the engine oil will be a very expensive mistake when the engine seizes up.

Teeth. Cavities are easy (and cheapish) to fix BEFORE they start to hurt. Waiting for your teeth to hurt before doing something can be a very expensive mistake.
