These sorts of stains can occur for various reasons (antibiotics, swallowing toothpaste, fevers when young). The stain often doesn’t go too deep into the tooth, so using some special materials and methods you can often remove them with minimal damage to the tooth. Sometimes however it is necessary to cover the stain with a tooth coloured filling.
